The promising field of Regenerative Medicine is working to restore structure and function of damaged tissues and organs. Cellular Therapies are one component of regenerative medicine. Adult stem cells are harvested and then injected at the site of diseased or damaged tissue, reconstruction of the tissue is feasible.  Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is one of the cellular therapies used in clinical practice.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy works by isolating and concentrating the platelets within our own blood and selectively injecting them into injured areas, triggering your body’s natural healing process and thereby reducing inflammation and pain.

 Secondary musculoskeletal problems like post stroke shoulder pain, degenerative hip and knee osteoarthritis and nerve entrapments are very common in persons with neurological disorders and cause significant pain and disability and affect their participation in the rehab program.

 PRP therapy has been applied to an array of musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative joint conditions, and has exhibited positive results.

Same principles have been applied to treat pain using PRP in persons undergoing neurorehabilitation. This has significant potential in the field of rehabilitation medicine.
