In 2021, an international needs survey led by Dr’s Gerard Francisco and Thierry Deltombe (55 spasticity experts from 25 countries) revealed that there is an important need for ongoing spasticity education to highlight pathophysiology, assessment, and optimizing treatment strategies for spasticity management. [3] Over the past year, members of the ISPRM Spasticity SIG (special interest group) collaborated with leading PMR physicians in Indonesia to design a comprehensive curriculum on spasticity management. This curriculum was tailored to address the specific educational needs identified by global partners, covering all aspects of rehabilitation and treatment for patients with spasticity. Key components include the formation of functional clinics and the development of multidisciplinary practices. This curriculum is based on the comprehensive spasticity assessment and management framework previously published in the Journal of ISPRM. By leveraging best practices and expert surveys, a structured educational program was developed that can be adapted and applied worldwide. To ensure relevance in Indonesia, we worked closely with local stakeholders to contextualize the material. This process helped identify areas for further refinement, enabling future adaptations in other countries based on local resources and needs.
