Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is defined as the inhalation of 100% oxygen under the pressure greater than 1 atmosphere absolute (ATA). HBOT has been shown to inhibit apoptosis, suppress inflammation, and promote angiogenesis and neurogenesis. Its considered as an Allopathic drug.

 The dose ranges from 2-3 ATA for 60-90 minutes for 10-40 sessions.

 The service is run by Hyperbaric Physician with assistance of Hyperbaric Nurse: to rule past history to exclude contraindications, do detailed medical examination to ensure HBOT is safe and provide physiological monitoring as needed.

 Rehabilitation Medicine as a the specialty has regular interface with general surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedic, neurology and oncology and is the most suitable place for running the HBOT services in an hospital.

 We are successfully running it for last 12 years treating more than 200 HBOT sessions per month.

 The workshop will discuss the definitions, types, mechanism of action, indications, doses, current guidelines for usage and contraindications and success stories with HBOT.
