The need for rehabilitation services is growing worldwide. A key priority of the World Health Assembly’s resolution on Strengthening Rehabilitation in Health Systems is the development of a strong, multidisciplinary rehabilitation workforce. Many low- and middle- income countries (LMICs), especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, face a critical shortage of trained Physical Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) physicians, limiting their capacity to develop a multidisciplinary rehabilitation workforce and deliver effective rehabilitation care. This interactive workshop brings together physicians from Africa and international stakeholders to address the urgent need for structured PRM training pathways. It will showcase the real-world models and challenges of PRM education in Africa and other LMIC. Participants will explore innovative solutions, tools, and best practices to create sustainable training initiatives, foster collaborative partnerships, and join collective advocacy efforts to strengthen PRM capacity in Sub-saharan Africa and other LMICs.
