This session aims to highlight the current challenges of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) in Morocco and open a debate between institutional, hospital, social, and financial stakeholders to establish a shared roadmap for the future.
Description
Medical Introduction and Framework : Samia Karkouri
– Overview of PRM in Morocco: access, tariffs, nomenclature, investment barriers.
– Experience of professionals and insights from scientific societies.
Institutional and Hospital Perspectives:
– Representative, Ministry of Health: National vision for rehabilitation pathways, ongoing and upcoming projects, and the role of practitioners in co-constructing these care models.
– Prof. Raouf Mohcine, Director of CHU Rabat: Role of the university hospital as a center of excellence in PRM, with focus on research, innovation, and hospital reform.
– Representative, UM6SS Foundation: Perspective of a private academic model in PRM, highlighting innovations and pilot experiences.
– Prof. Brahim Lakhal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat: Importance of initial and continuing education in PRM, strengthening competencies, improving care quality, and addressing population needs.
Social Inclusion and Social Protection
– Representative, Ministry of Inclusion and Social Solidarity: Vision of a closed health–social loop, with projects for comprehensive support, accurate disability assessment, and sustainable social inclusion.
CNSS (National Social Security Fund)
– Representative, CNSS: Digitalization of medical files and its impact. Planned reforms on tariffs, nomenclatures, and out-of-nomenclature acts. Vision of a functional specialty based on measurable individual indicators.
International Experience
– Dr. André Thévenon, Fondation Hopale (France): Presentation of international models and best practices in rehabilitation, drawing lessons to strengthen the Moroccan model.

Discussions will address the current challenges and opportunities for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in Morocco, and conclude with practical recommendations to shape future strategies.
