Natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, large fires, and floods often result in a significant number of individuals sustaining traumatic injuries, including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations, fractures, and peripheral nerve injuries. The immediate aftermath of such events requires a coordinated approach to managing these injuries and facilitate effective rehabilitation. This workshop aims to explore comprehensive management and rehabilitation strategies for disaster survivors with traumatic injuries, emphasizing data collection, patient assessment, and evidence-based interventions. Subject matter experts will present various aspects of emergency rehabilitation, including disaster preparedness, immediate response strategies, integration of rehabilitation into emergency medical teams, and long-term recovery planning. Topics may include the role of rehabilitation in disaster settings, challenges in managing complex injuries, strategies for effective data collection in chaotic environments, and the importance of early rehabilitation interventions to improve functional outcomes. Speakers will be encouraged to present in the following format: background, epidemiology, clinical presentation, assessment, and evidence-based rehabilitation interventions. Speakers will represent different global regions, including Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. Each speaker is internationally renowned in the field of disaster rehabilitation and will provide perspectives and cultural context related to healthcare delivery in their respective regions. After completing this workshop, attendees will understand common challenges and effective strategies in emergency rehabilitation, with insights from an international vantage point.
