Introduction: during the last global crisis, covid, the medical specialty that was at the vanguard of providing advice and solutions to the global population was infectious dis-ease. Since that time, post COVID syndrome, and conditions related to unattended medical care during that time have become part of the new global crisis, 2030. -the crisis of 2030 , spelled out in the global burden of disease report which demon-strates the impact on the global population of non-communicable diseases such as heart disease diabetes and dementia now the leading cause of disability worldwide -we will review the causes of mortality and morbidity noting the shifting impact of the non-communicable diseases and noting the shift in emphasis from life expectancy to healthy life expectancy. The Who now predicts that the average person will have 9 plus years with a disability. -This talk will focus on the unique capacity of the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation through anticipation. Prevention, mitigation, minimize and adapt to those factors which will result in disability; including physical, cognitive and emotion-al. -The speakers will emphasize the need for our educational institutions come in are practicing physicians to focus on those core issues that pause disability, and to com-bine what would have been the responsibilities of several specialties in medicine into one cohesive practice aimed at reducing the impact of this new global health crisis. We are a specialty with unique breadth ideally positioned to address the tsunami that is upon us. We must respond- several clear concise responses will be outlined.
